VITAMIN D3 Krka tablets contain the active ingredient cholecalciferol. Cholecalciferol is a form of vitamin D that plays an important role in the absorption and metabolism of calcium, as well as its incorporation into bone tissue.

VITAMIN D3 KRKA is used for:

– Prevention of vitamin D deficiency (low levels of vitamin D in the body) in children 6 years of age and older, adolescents and high-risk adults.

– As an adjunct to specific therapy for osteoporosis (a disease in which bone density decreases, leading to an increased likelihood of fractures) in adults with vitamin D deficiency or an established high risk of vitamin D deficiency.

The active ingredient cholecalciferol is identical to cholecalciferol found in the human body. It is present in food and is also produced in the skin after exposure to the sun. Vitamin D deficiency can occur when your diet or lifestyle does not provide enough vitamin D or when your body requires more vitamin D.

Dosage and method of administration
The tablet should be swallowed whole with a small amount of water.
VITAMIN D3 Krka can be taken regardless of meals.
Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, follow these recommended doses:
– Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in adults, adolescents and children aged 6 years and older: 1 tablet per day.
– Additional treatment of osteoporosis in adults: 1 tablet per day.
Caution is advised in children aged 6 to 11 years as they may not be able to swallow the entire tablet.
Do not exceed the recommended daily dose, as overdose may occur.
Contraindications

Do not take VITAMIN D3 Krka if:

– you have kidney stones or calcium deposits in the kidneys,

– you have serious kidney problems (because your body cannot absorb vitamin D),

You should not take VITAMIN D3 Krka if you have pseudohypoparathyroidism (impaired release of parathyroid hormone). There is a risk of long-term overdose as your vitamin D needs may change over time. Your doctor may prescribe another drug with a similar mechanism of action.

You should not take other medications or dietary supplements that contain vitamin D or calcium unless recommended by your doctor. In such cases, your doctor may monitor calcium levels in your blood and urine.
